How Renee Can Help You

Renee utilizes her training in DBT, CBT, and Solution-Focused Therapy, to guide teens and adults through anxiety, depression, trauma, relational, and neurodiversity challenges. She is particularly experienced in supporting LGBTQ+ individuals, offering an affirming space where you can explore identity, relationships, and life transitions with complete authenticity.

She is a wonderful, supportive therapist. She provides a safe and comfortable place for me to work on myself.

-Current Client

I can see how the conversations that I have in therapy impact the choices I make outside of therapy. I have changed how I talk to myself in a positive way. It has made a positive impact on my relationships.

I've been impressed with every aspect of this practice so far. My therapist is fantastic to work with, and I feel incredibly lucky to have found her. I really appreciate receiving invoices via email and the ability to make online payments.

They wanted to get to know me as best they could and truly wanted to help and listen. The techniques they taught me when I was in session were instrumental to helping my anxiety.

What insurance do you take?

Aetna, Cigna, and Husky. We are not in network with BCBS but we offer affordable private pay rates and will provide you with a superbill that you can submit for reimbursement (using your out of network benefits, if you have them).

How did you come to realize this was a profession you wanted to pursue?

My journey to becoming a therapist began with a deep fascination with human behavior and psychology. My own transformative experience with therapy as a young person showed me firsthand how powerful it can be to have someone truly listen and help navigate life's challenges.

Despite being told it might be a difficult career path, I knew this was my calling. I've always believed that understanding leads to healing, and I'm passionate about creating the same supportive, transformative space for others that once helped me grow and thrive.

Can you tell me more about your educational and professional background?

I hold a Master of Science in Clinical Counseling from Albertus Magnus College and a degree in Psychological Science from the University of Vermont. My experience spans private practice and college counseling at Wesleyan University, giving me a broad perspective on supporting clients through various life stages and challenges.

I'm particularly excited about the intersection of mental health with holistic wellness, including nutrition and animal-assisted therapy. My diverse background allows me to adapt my approach to each client's unique needs, drawing from both traditional and innovative therapeutic methods.

What makes you relatable to clients?

I believe in bringing my authentic self to therapy while maintaining professional boundaries. When I'm not in session, you might find me hiking with my rescue dog Duchess (a charming chocolate lab/basset hound mix), practicing Brazilian jiu-jitsu (where I've earned my blue belt with two stripes), or tending to my collection of unique plants that make my home feel like a peaceful rainforest.

I'm also an outdoor enthusiast who loves camping, and yes, I occasionally need to binge-watch Lord of the Rings and Jurassic Park – because sometimes self-care looks like a movie marathon!

What is your approach to therapy and how do you work with clients?

I firmly believe that you are the expert of your own life, and my role is to provide skilled guidance, evidence-based tools, and unwavering support on your journey. In our first few sessions, we'll work together to understand your unique story and create meaningful, achievable goals. I create a safe, judgment-free space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings openly, knowing you're truly heard and supported.

What sets my approach apart is the combination of emotional validation with practical skill-building. We'll work at your pace, and I'll help you recognize when you're ready to move forward independently. I measure success by your ability to confidently use the tools we've developed together in your daily life – whether that's managing emotions more effectively, communicating with confidence, or maintaining healthy boundaries.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

You'll gain a comprehensive set of practical skills tailored to your specific needs, including:

  • Powerful emotion regulation techniques

  • Effective communication strategies

  • Conflict resolution tools that work in real-world situations

  • Healthy boundary-setting practices

  • Enhanced cognitive skills for managing challenging thoughts

  • A personalized self-care toolkit that grows with you

Most importantly, you'll gain these skills in an environment where you feel truly understood, supported, and empowered to create lasting positive change in your life.
